Best Job after Polytechnic Diploma in Electrical Engineering 2023

Hi, Welcome to our next article on Job Opportunities after Polytechnic Diploma in Electrical Engineering. Every year, millions of junior engineers, complete their diploma courses. From them, around 10% are Electrical Engineers. And everyone has one question what is the next best option.

Job Opportunities after Polytechnic Diploma in Electrical Engineering:

In this article, we will discuss the Job scenario for fresher after completing a Diploma in Electrical Engineering in the core field. This is very much similar to Mechanical Engineering.

Jobs for Electrical Engineers are divided into three categories: Design, Manufacturing, and Research.

Design Engineer: Design and Analysis broadly work on developing better electrical machinery. They also do Electrical network analysis in Power systems and testing of equipment. They use CAD software for wiring layouts.

Manufacturing Engineer: Manufacturing and Maintenance Engineers works in the Manufacturing of various equipment from home appliance to Relays, Transformers, etc. Maintenance Engineers mainly troubleshoot Plan Maintenance Schedules and Spare management in big plants.

Research Engineers: Research Engineers broadly work on controls and optimization algorithms. They also use modern tools like Computational Electromagnetics for designing better Power systems like Transformers, Coils, etc.

Electrical Engineers Jobs Industries:

Electrical Engineer jobs are also divided among three industries.

  • Public Sectors,
  • Govt. Sector and
  • Private Sector.

Public Sector Undertaking ( PSU ) Jobs:

PSU offers a high average package of around 30-40K per month for Diploma holders. But the growth rate is linear. Jobs in PSUs are mostly in Manufacturing and Maintenance, and very few jobs are in Design and Research.

Most of the PSU recruits are from GATE. Some conduct their separate entrance test. The most preferred PSUs are

  1. PGCIL: Power Grid Corporation of India
  2. BHEL:  Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited
  3. NTPC: National Thermal Power Corporation Limited
  4. ONGC: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation
  5. IOCL: Indian Oil Corporation Limited, etc.

Govt. Sector Jobs for Polytechnic Diploma in Electrical Engineering:

Govt. sector offers a salary range of 40 -45K per month. Here also growth rate is Linear. Govt. Jobs are mostly in Research and very few jobs are in Design and Manufacturing.

Job opportunities in Govt. sector are very few and very competitive. Most of Govt. sectors conduct their own entrance test and some also take them based on the GATE scorecard.

The most preferred Govt. sectors are
  1. ISRO,

Small Private industry recruit based on Advertisement and Consultancy. Growth in the private industry is slow in the initial phases and becomes exponential after 5-10 years.

Jobs in the Private sector are equally distributed in Design, Manufacturing, and Maintenance. Some jobs are also in Research, which is a very high-profile job.

The most preferred industries for Electrical Engineers are ABB, Seimens, Schneider Electric, Rockwell Automation, Alstom, Areva, etc. Hope you like the information. Please share this information with your friends.
